Remember: The goal of your eBook is to create leads for your sales team, so choose a topic that makes it easy to communicate with your sales team from downloading your eBook. This means that your e-book shouldn’t deviate from the topics your cover in your other content marketing channels. Instead, it’s your chance to dive deeper into a topic you’ve covered so far, but something your audience wants to know more about.
For example, while listening to sales and customer calls here on the internet. I learned that creating eBooks is a big hurdle for our audience, who are marketers themselves. So if I can’t only provide this blog post but provide resources to facilitate e-book creation. Then I am focusing on the right topic that will naturally lead to sales conversations.

For this blog post, I’m going to use the PowerPoint version of Template Two from our collection of five free e-book templates. Through each part of this post, I slid along with the template and how I customized it.
Below, you’ll find a custom cover with an eBook topic related to my sales. To help you write great headlines for your eBook, check out the tips in this blog post.
Outline each chapter of your e-book
Introduce your e-book to the contents of your e-book and draw the reader in. What will you cover in your e-book? How will the reader benefit from reading it? For tips above all on how to write an effective introduction. Also, check out this post deeply. Some e-book creators say that an e-book is just a series of blog posts stitched together. While I agree that you should treat each chapter as an individual web post. The chapters in your e-book should also flow side by side.
The best way to outline your eBook is to consider it a crash course on a sales topic. In my example of creating an e-book, I know I need to cover:
- Write effective copy.
- Design an ebook.
Improve ebooks for lead generation and promotion.
Although my example has a few chapters, remember that your e-book does not need to be lengthened. I have a golden rule for e-book length: Write down what is necessary to effectively educate your audience about the topic you have chosen. Great if it takes five pages! If it takes 30 pages, let it be. Don’t waste words just thinking you need to write a long e-book.
- With that, let’s move on to the original copy you are writing.
- An example of an e-book copy within an e-book template.
Break down each chapter as you write.
Get writing! Here, you can interact with each chapter in the same way that you would write a long blog post – by dividing each chapter into smaller sections or bullet points, as shown in the image below. This helps you to write easily and clearly, instead of using sophisticated language to convey every point. This is the most effective way to inform readers and help them understand the new content you provide.
Make sure to maintain a consistent structure in each chapter. This helps you to make natural changes between each chapter so there is clear progression from one chapter to another (just collecting blog posts can deprive you of this standard).
These methods should be valid for all your other marketing efforts, such as email marketing, call-to-action creation, and landing page development. “The explanation is clear,” says Author. Javed Hayat.
Want to make sure you’re making your eBook interesting to readers? Here are some important tips and tricks to keep in mind:
- Use some worthy keywords in the title that emphasize the value of your offering. Examples also include adjectives such as “amazing,” “awesome,” or “ultimate.”
- Keep your format consistent so you can create a mental pattern for your readers and increase their understanding of the content.
When appropriate, use formattings – such as built-in lists, bold text, italics, and font size changes. To draw people’s attention to your most important content or to emphasize certain points that your readers need to remember.

Design your eBook
Our downloadable eBook templates are offered in both PowerPoint and these designs. For this example, we will show you how to do it in PowerPoint, because more and more people have access to this software. You’ll notice that we have only one “chapter web page” in the eBook template (slide three).
To create additional chapter pages or any pages, just right-click on the slide and select Duplicate Slides. This will make a copy of your slide and you can drag it to the appropriate place in your e-book through the sidebar or slide sorter section of the power book. You can then customize it for later chapters.
An example of copying e-book pages into a template.
Use the right color.
Ideally, our free e-book templates will magically match the colors of your brand. But, they probably don’t. This is where you make your work truly personal. However, since eBooks offer even more real estate for color than your website, it’s a good idea to consider secondary colors in your brand’s color palette. There are eBooks where this color scheme can shine.
To learn how to add your brand’s colors to PowerPoint, check out this blog post. That way, you can customize the color scheme in your e-book templates to match your brand!
Therefore, graphics and Images in eBooks are hard to come by. The key to fitting them well is to consider them a complement to your writing. Whether you include them during or after writing a copy of your e-book, your visuals should highlight an important point you are making or dissect the concept in a simple, visual way.
Images should not be for the convenience of the e-book. Rather, they should be used to help readers understand the content you are covering. If you need help collecting visuals, we have three sets of free stock photos that can help you along the way.
- 75 stock photos
- 160 business-themed stock photos.
- 250-holiday stock photos.
And if you’re compiling an eBook full of data. You’ll want to download our free data visualization ebook for tips on designing great graphs for your content.

Highlight references or statistics.
Another way to enhance your eBook is to include quotes or statistics in your design. Just make sure the quote or state you are using adds value to the content.
Whether you’re emphasizing a quote or adding a visual, keep all your content in one margin. If your copy is permanently an inch indented on your page from both left and right, keep your designed elements straight using the same distance.

Keep proper call to action inside your e-book.
Now that your content has been written and designed, it’s time to optimize it for lead generation, conversion, and promotion.
Think about how you got here – you clicked on an email, a social media post, or somewhere else Call to Action (CTA). A CTA is a link or visual item that entices a visitor to click and reach the landing page, which will further engage them with your company. Because your eBook readers may have turned into leads to get their hands on your eBook (more on this in the steps below), change the CTA inside your eBook to your readers again. Use them to further your marketing funnel.
For example, a CTA could lead to another offer. Your annual conference registration page, or even a product page. Depending on what the next action is in your eBook. The CTAs could be an online rectangle or a full-page teasing the next offer (see both images below).
To hyperlink the CTA in your e-book (or any image or text in your e-book) to your destination URL, simply enter >> go to the hyperlink in PowerPoint.
- Examples of using hyperlinks in an eBook template.
- Example of adding a call to action to an eBook template.
We’ve designed up to 50 custom Call to Action in PowerPoint that you can download and use in your eBook. You can catch them here.
Now, we don’t have a dedicated CTA template slide for you to customize in PowerPoint eBook templates … but it’s still easy! All you have to do is add a duplicate slide four (header/subheader slide) and custom copy or images as needed. Also, you can go there to Insert >> New Slide and work from there.
Convert it to PDF.
Once you’ve finished writing your eBook – CTA, and everything, it’s time to convert it to the correct file type so that it can be passed from you to your recipient.
To convert your eBook to PDF, click File >> Save in the eBook template as you opened it. Under File Format, select PDF and select a destination for this new file on your computer.
Why can’t you just link what is on your landing page and what can be done with it? Word documents, PowerPoint, and similar templates are great for creating your ebook, but not for providing it. Because these templates are editable, the contents of your eBook are easily corrupted, distorted, or even lost when lost from your computer to your future leads. This is where PDFs come in.
You’ve seen these characters at the end of the first files. Short for portable document format. Pdf file type freezes your eBook so it can be displayed on any device. A popular alternative to PDF is the EPUB file type. See a comparison of EPUB to PDF another article.
Also, create a dedicated landing page for your eBook
Your e-book should be available for download through the landing page on your website. A landing page is a web page that promotes/describes your offer and provides a form that visitors must fill out with their contact information to access your e-book. This way you can convert your visitors into business leads that your sales team can eventually follow.
For example, you went through this landing page to access this e-book template. To learn more about how to improve your landing pages for conversions, download this free ebook.
How To Create An Ebook – Custom Header
Promote your eBook and track its success. Once your landing page is complete, you can use this destination URL to promote your eBook in your marketing channels. Here are five ways you can:
- Advertise your new eBook on your website. For example, include a CTA on your resource page or even your homepage or a link to the landing page of your offer.
- Promote your eBook through your blog. For example, consider publishing an excerpt from your e-book as a blog post. Or write a separate blog article on the same topic as your e-book, and link to it at the end of your post using Call to Action to keep readers learning. (Note: This very blog post is a great example of how to promote an offer made through a blog post.)
- Send a disconnected email to contacts who have expressed interest in receiving offers from your company.
- Beneficial advertising and co-marketing partnerships that will help you reach your e-book to a new audience.
- Publish posts on social media with a link to your e-book.
You can also increase social share by creating a social media share button inside your e-book, such as the one on the bottom right of this e-book. After launching and promoting your content across your marketing channels, you also want marketing analytics to measure the success of your live product.
For example, you should have landing page analytics that gives you insight into how many people have downloaded your ebook and converted it into leads, and closed-loop analytics that shows that How many people eventually convert into your business opportunities and customers. Learn more through HubSpot’s Landing Pages app.
And with that, we’ve created an e-book, Logo! You can check out the packaged version of the example I made here through this post.
An animation that scrolls through several web pages of an eBook
After launching and promoting your content across your marketing channels, you will need marketing analytics to measure the success of your eBooks. For example, having landing page analytics that gives you an insight into how many people have downloaded your eBook, or how many of those downloaders have converted into your business opportunities and customers Are
So, what should you write in your e-book? I will answer this question with another question: Do you want your readers to get out of this e-book? To identify an e-book idea that is right for your audience, consider the type of e-book you are trying to create. Here are some ideas.
Doing an Experience or Business Survey? This is a great way to promote entrepreneurial knowledge and become a thinking leader in your industry. But how do you share your findings with people who care? Create an e-book that explains the experience, what you wanted to know, what the results of the experiment were, and what those results mean for your readers and the mass market.
Create a Case study for an eBook
People love success stories, especially if they’re on the fence about buying something from you. If you have a client whose business you are particularly proud of, why not share their story in an e-book?
E-book case studies show your customers that other people trust you and have benefited from your product or service. In your e-book, describe what your client’s challenge was, how you connected with them, and how you can help your client solve their challenge and succeed.
As complex as your product is, your customers will need more information to use it properly. If your product or service can be used in many ways or is difficult to set up alone, dedicate a short e-book to show people how it’s happening. In the first part of your e-book, for example, describe how to launch your product or service. In the second part, break down the individual characteristics and goals that are best used for your product.
Can we put Interested in interviewing a well-known person in your marketing? You may have already sat down with an influencer to choose their minds about the future of the industry. Pack this interview into an e-book, to make it easier for your clients to read and share your inner scope.
A “playbook” is a document that people can use for a new project or concept that is foreign to them. Think of it as a blanket of deception, full of tips and tricks that help your customers improve their work.
A playbook also provides your customers with the information they need to excel when using your product. For example, a software vendor for IT professionals can create a “virus protection playbook” that improves support teams for virus prevention in their respective companies.
Create an eBook as a Blog post series
Sometimes, the best e-book for your business is already spread out in a series of blog posts. If you’ve spent the last month writing articles on the same topic for your business, think about how these posts would look sewn together?
Each article can start a new chapter. Then, once it becomes an e-book, you can promote it on a landing page, link to that landing page from each blog post, and generate leads from readers that make it an easy e-book. Want to download the whole blog series in the book.
Share your expertise in an eBook.
eBooks are one of the best converting lead magnets a business can offer to its audience. Creating an e-book is about providing the highest value at the lowest price point to generate more sales volume. E-books work well for new businesses looking for brand awareness and established companies gain a position as an industry thought leaders.
