History Behind Teachers’ Day
Teachers have been acclaimed for their selfless service all around the world from the beginning of time. They have been considered as mas of a nation. They take care of kids from the time they are five or six till they are 18 to 20 years of age. As it is said, the formative years of a child determine the person he or she would grow up to be, and this is mostly in the hands of their teachers.
For the dedication teachers show, it would be wrong not to express our outstanding teachers for their accomplishments and service. UNESCO started the tradition of celebrating Teachers’ day all over the world in October 1994. However, in India, Teachers’ Day is celebrated on the 5th of September every year. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who was a scholar, headteacher, and politician, for his exemplary contribution to the field of education.

A Day to Remember Our Dearest Teachers
The influence a teacher makes on an individual extends beyond the classroom. Teachers put in tremendous effort to understand their students and cater to them wholeheartedly. They take much care of their students, helping them grow into compassionate and socially responsible individuals. Teachers’ day is an occasion for us to remember our dear teachers and be grateful to them for the role they play in our lives.
Responsibility of a teacher
A teacher is the building block on which a society is built. The responsibility of a teacher is huge as they perform the job of shaping intellectual and creative minds who turn out to be the future of society. In Dr. Radhakrishnan’s opinion, “Teachers should be the best minds in the country”. Celebrated in honor, Teachers’ day turns out to be a day to remember, appreciate, applaud and thank our teachers for providing us intolerantly withal and moral guidance and support.
No matter how old we grow, there are a few teachers with whom we would like to share the progress we make in our lives, some who understand and believe in us more than our parents do, some whom we would run to no matter when and where we catch sight of them and some who turn out to be great friends apart from being wonderful teachers. Teachers’ day is a chance to let these teachers know how much of an influence they have made in our lives. Sometimes, it is just another occasion; it is unnecessary that you have to wait until Teachers’ day to show your gratitude towards them for their constant love and support.
Contrary to all this is the present day, an age in which teachers are disrespected and disregarded for the hard work they put into educating and empowering students, a day like this is necessary. It is a pain to see teachers being accused for various reasons, sometimes for no fault of theirs. In such an environment, Teachers’ day can be a day for teachers to rethink their role and responsibilities as a teacher and for students to understand the importance of having teachers who redeem.
Celebrating Teachers’ Day
In academic institutions, among the various events celebrated every year, Teachers’ day is considered an important occasion. It is one day in the whole academic year when teachers are made to feel special and valued.
On Teachers’ day, students put up cultural performances and conduct games for teachers. The Institution provides a special lunch or refreshments and mementos as a token of the service they render.
However, the education scenario has changed drastically from a time when teachers graded students for their performance to the present when students are asked to fill up survey forms to rate teachers. This is good as long as it is constructive and aids in the betterment of both teachers and students. This system, on the contrary, has been risking the job security of teachers for no fault of theirs. It is a pity that a teacher would most probably lose his/her job if he/she cannot please the children and their parents. Teachers have almost become puppets in the hands of the students and management. In such a situation, Teachers’ day might be the only good day in the lives of teachers. Whatever deserves to be recognized, and a day like Teachers’ day would be the perfect occasion to do so.

The man ate an extravagant meal at a fancy restaurant. Ritzy! This classy sentence uses three of some of the most commonly used words: there, and, and an. However, there is more to these words than simply the number of times that we use them. These three words belong to a class of words known as articles. If you want to become a grammar master, it is really important to know how to use articles because of how often they show up in our sentences.
What is an article?
An article is a word that is used to show that a noun is a noun without describing it. For example, in the sentence Nick bought a dog show, the article shows that the word dog is a noun. Articles can also change anything that acts as a noun, such as a pronoun or a noun phrase.
Often, a sentence needs an article before a note to make grammatical sense. For example,
The Correct one: I have a box.
Article examples
In English, there are only three articles. They are:
- the
- a
- an
The following sentences show examples of how we use articles in sentences:
- The zoo has an elephant enclosure.
- I have a younger brother and an older sister.
- The ancient Romans built the Coliseum.
- Who lives in a pineapple under the sea?
Types of articles
We can separate the articles into two different types.
Definite articles
In English, the only definite article is the word the. A definite article has several roles that it performs.
- Show a defy definition is used to refer to unique things or groups. A definite article can show that something is unique and only one of it exists.
- She gazed at the moon. (The Earth only has one moon)
- We sailed on the Pacific Ocean. (There is only one body of width named the Pacific Ocean.)
2. A definite article is used to refer to specific things that both the speaker and the listener know the identity of.
- Harold went to the store. (Both the speaker and the listener know specifically which store Harold went to.)
- The kids are playing outside. (Both the speaker and listener know the identity of the kids.)
In writing and speech, the word there is typically used after the speaker or writer first introduces a thing that they are talking about. The word the then references back to this same thing. For example,
- We saw birds by the lake. The birds were building nests. (The word the shows that the birds in the second sentence are the same birds mentioned in the first sentence.)
Indefinite articles
In English, there are two indefinite articles: a and an. A is used before consonants or consonant sounds, and an is used before vowels oror vowel sounds. Indefinite articles are based on the reverse of definite articles and have several roles.
1. Indefinite articles are used to refer to things that aren’t unique.
- Raquel is a doctor. ( Raquel is just one of the many doctors in the world.)
- France is a country. ( France is one of many countries.)
2. Indefinite articles are used to refer to nonspecific things.
- I am looking for a job. (I am not looking for a specific job.)
- Please hand me an envelope. (You can hand me any envelope you can find.)
In this same sense, indefinite articles are often used to refer to something as an idea or concept.
- Going camping is a fun experience. (This sentence says that the act of “going camping” is an example of something that can be described as a “fun experience.”)
Did you know all articles are determined, but what exactly is a determiner? Find out here.
3. Indefinite articles are used to refer to things that the speaker and listener don’t know the identity of.
- Vick has a know-nothing dog. (We know Vick owns a dog, but we know nothing about it.)
- A woman is standing outside. (We don’t know who the woman is.)
In writing and speech, indefinite articles are often used to introduce the first mention of a noun. Once the noun has been introduced, it is then possible to use a definite article.
- A truck drove past. The truck was huge. (The noun truck is introduced with the definite article a. After it is introduced, we can use them to refer to the same truck.)
Unlike the definite artic them, it is considered grammatically incorrect to use indefinite articles with plural nouns.
Nouns that don’t take articles
Some nouns do not take articles. Unfortunately, there is no general rule for when this happens, and you’ll just need to learn these instances as you encounter them. Some common types of nouns that rarely use articles include:
- Languages: I studied Russian. She speaks Spanish and Portuguese.
- Sports: He plays football. We watched basketball on TV.
- School subjects: She loves math. He is bad at chemistry.
- Names: Meghan lives with Ken. I gave a biscuit to Princess, my poodle.
- Abstract nouns: She has impressive speed. The professor gave a lecture on communism.
How do you end an article?
Simple Ways To End Articles With Strong Kickers
These interesting conclusions may leave your readers impressed and wanting more from you
During my time as a freelance writer, I’ve gotten a lot of feedback and edits. I’ve learned to not overuse “that,” to be mindful of absolutes, and much more. But one common note I’ve gotten repeatedly is this: You need a stronger kicker.
While an article needs to be interesting throughout, the ending is one of those key places (other than the intro) where something punchy is important. But how do you do that? Here are seven ways you can write a successful kicker that will keep your readers reading.
Add something new
When someone reads your entire article, they may not want a summary of your points afterward. So, you can make your conclusion interesting by adding a point that furthers your argument.
However, you want to be careful to avoid adding something that needs too much explanation or should’ve been addressed beforehand. A couple of ways you can do this well is by asking a question that furthers the conversation or including a statistic about future impacts.
Circle back to the beginning
A nice and tidy way to end an article is by circling back to the introduction. Maybe it was an anecdote about a challenge you experienced — so your kicker could be an anecdote about how you’re doing better now. Or maybe your intro asked questions your kicker can answer. Those are two ways you can “close the loop” and leave readers feeling satisfied.
Summarize your takeaways conversationally
Sharing your key points in a new, interesting way can also result in a strong conclusion. While it’s not everyone’s thing, it can be helpful for those who only had time to skim your article (which is common) or who want to take your advice with them easily. You can even include bullet points, both for easier reading and to increase your SEO rankings. Just ensure your summary doesn’t repeat your article verbatim and isn’t boring or long.
Write about what the future could look like considering your points
Encourage discussion and make readers want more by talking about how the future could be different if we do or don’t make the choices you’re arguing. Here are some examples:
- A specific advertisement offended multiple groups of people → How it could lead to a decrease in sales and a better way to advertise
- Why our society needs more compassion → How compassion (or a lack of it) could completely and specifically change our world
- Tips for writing a strong headline → How similar headlines have gone viral for you, or how different headlines resulted in lower views
These examples back up your points and strengthen them. They can help convince readers they can keep people thinking even after reading.
Twist the knife
I first heard about the idea of “twisting the knife” from portfolio manager and writer Dickie Bush’s tweet thread about headlines. This is how he explained the phrase:
“The best writing points out a specific problem, calls attention to it, then solves it. Example: ‘How to Make Money vs. ‘How to make more money (so you can finally stop working the job you hate).’”
This can also help readers feel heard in their experiences and give them extra motivation to read your advice. While twisting the knife is a great headline tool, it can also make a strong concluding sentence.
Include one final anecdote
As I’ve written about, I’m a firm believer in anecdotes being successful and creative ways to start an article. Storytelling is more likely to bring people in and interest them.
And for those same reasons, anecdotes can also make strong endings. As mentioned previously, they can be easy ways to circle back to the beginning and tie up your story. In your kicker, consider sharing anecdotes emotionally hypnotized points away.
End with a powerful quote
Are you experiencing writer’s block impactful and feeling unsure about how to word a strong ending? Add in a powerful quote! Sometimes, other people have said things better than we can (at least in the moment), and that’s okay. Plus, I’ve found people love reading quotes, and quotes can summarize your argument impact fully.
Takeaways
While your headline is crucial in getting people to read your article, your conclusion is crucial in getting people to finish it and feel satisfied. You can do this in a variety of ways. Examples include adding new information, tying up previous anecdotes, including an emotional and summarizing quote, talking about how your points can affect individuals and societies, and more.
Ultimately, keep your reader thinking and wanting more, furthering the conversation both online and in life. As Ray said in “Uptown Girls”:
“Every story has an end… every ending is a new beginning.”

How to write an introduction section of a scientific article?
Abstract
An article primarily includes the following sections: introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion, and conclusion. Before writing the introduction, the major steps, the heading, and the familiarity level of the readers should be considered. Writing should begin when the experimental system and equipment are available. The introduction section comprises the first portion of the manuscript, and it should be written using the simple present tense. Abbreviations and explanations are included in this section. The primary goal of the introduction is to convey basic information to the readers without obligating them to investigate previous publications and to provide clues as to the results of the present study. To do this, the subject of the article should be thoroughly reviewed, and the aim of the study should be clearly stated after discussing the basic references.
